Jazz reach buyout with Raja Bell

After agreeing to a contract buyout with the Utah Jazz, guard Raja Bell wants to explore the possibility of signing with his hometown Miami Heat, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Los Angeles Lakers also could emerge as a potential destination for Bell, sources said.

Bell, 35, played his high school and college basketball in Miami.

Bell chose a three-year deal with the Jazz over less money with the Lakers two years ago, despite a hard recruiting sell by Kobe Bryant. With addition of Steve Nash, the Lakers are in the market for defensive-minded guards to play off the bench.

Bell has been considered one of the NBA’s toughest veteran guards, but his skills have declined as he's aged. Nevertheless, Bell could still bring significant value and presence in limited minutes for a contender.

The Salt Lake Tribune first reported news of Bell’s buyout agreement with the Jazz.
