Greivis Vasquez to make Kings debut against Clippers on Monday

Sacramento Kings point guard Greivis Vasquez is expected to make his debut against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Vasquez underwent surgery to remove bone spurs in his right ankle on May 24 and was projected to miss 12 to 16 weeks. He took part in the Kings’ training camp in Santa Barbara, Calif., but did not play in the preseason opener against the Golden State Warriors on Monday night.

Vasquez averaged career highs of 13.9 points and nine assists for the New Orleans Hornets last season despite the ankle issue. The guard was traded to the Kings on July 10 in a three-team deal involving Tyreke Evans.

The Kings started Isaiah Thomas in the preseason opener without Vasquez, but the Venezuelan has been tabbed their point guard of the future.
