Free-agent forward Jason Maxiell agrees to join Orlando Magic
After eight seasons with the Detroit Pistons, free-agent forward Jason Maxiell has agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with the Orlando Magic, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The Magic hold an option on Maxiell's $2.5 million for the 2014-15 season, sources said.
Maxiell, 30, has been a sturdy, dependable rotation player and brings toughness and tenacity to a young, developing Magic roster.
Maxiell, 6-foot-7 and 260 pounds, can play power forward and give the Magic minutes at center, too.
He averaged 6.9 points and a career-high 5.7 rebounds in 72 games for Detroit last season. For his career, Maxiell has averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Maxiell was the Pistons' first-round pick in the 2005 NBA draft and was selected 26th overall out of the University of Cincinnati.
