Clippers guard Maalik Wayns to have knee surgery, will only miss six weeks

Los Angeles Clippers guard Maalik Wayns will need surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee, but he received good news Wednesday as he was told he would only miss six weeks after the operation, a source told Yahoo Sports.

The second-year guard averaged 2.8 points and one assist as a rookie for the Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers last year. Wayns suffered the knee injury in preseason action against the Sacramento Kings on Monday night and was taken out of the arena on a cart. He also suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee while playing in college at Villanova.

The surgery has yet to be scheduled, but is expected to take place next week, the source said.
