Nats' Harper sits out due to nausea

The SportsXchange

One night after his ugly collision with the outfield wall at Dodger Stadium, Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper was out of the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Nausea was cited as the reason for Harper's Tuesday absence, and the outfielder is questionable for the Wednesday game in Los Angeles, too. However, Harper apparently escaped any major injuries in the Monday incident.

Chasing A.J. Ellis' fly ball, Harper ran face-first into the fence. He wound up needing 11 stitches to close a cut on his chin, and he hurt his left shoulder, but he did not sustain a concussion, as he passed medical tests.

"I don't think I should go out there right now with how I'm feeling today," Harper said, according to "I'm feeling a little nauseous. That's the only thing that is holding me out of the lineup. The soreness and stuff is part of the game. You could play through that. If I wasn't feeling so nauseous, I would be in the lineup."

The 20-year-old, who won the National League Rookie of the Year in 2012, is tied for second in the NL this year with 10 homers. He's batting .303 with a .400 on-base percentage, a .622 slugging percentage and 21 RBIs in 35 games.
