Arizona: C Miguel Montero started for the first time in a week and the first time since he signed a five-year, $60 million contract extension on Saturday. Montero missed the previous five games because of a strained left groin. ... RHP Trevor Cahill got his first hit and scored his first run of the season when he singled and scored in the second inning. That broke an 0-for-17 drought.

Atlanta: C Brian McCann (flu) made his first start since May 21 even though he still feels weak. He said he expects to start again today. ... 1B Freddie Freeman hasn't played since Friday because of vision issues that have plagued him since early May. He is waiting for custom sports glasses that will wrap around, allowing him to maintain his batting stance. His face is not square to the plate, so he needs to be able to see the ball coming from the side.

Chicago: RH reliever Carlos Marmol (right hamstring) was activated from the disabled list but will not go into the closer's role, manager Dale Sveum said. Marmol said he regained his slider during a short minor league rehab stint. "I threw a lot of sliders," he said. "I'm very confident with my slider." RH reliever Rafael Dolis was sent down to Class AAA (Des Moines) Iowa to create a roster spot. ... 1B Anthony Rizzo, the team's top prospect, had his right wrist examined and X-rayed after feeling soreness when he swung the bat. Team officials said the initial X-ray was "clean" and that they were awaiting further word.

Cincinnati: 1B Joey Votto is hitting .333 with runners in scoring position. The rest of the club is hitting a combined .195. Monday, they were 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. ... The Reds haven't gotten a quality start in their last four games, two of which were losses, after getting quality starts in each of the previous six games, all victories.

Colorado: CF Dexter Fowler, a frequent leadoff hitter in his career, batted leadoff for the first time this year. In his previous starts this season, Fowler had batted second in 17 games and eighth in 15. He went 3-for-5 in Game 1 of the doubleheader and led off again in Game 2. ... RH reliever Adam Ottavino's scoreless streak ended at 7 1/3 innings when he gave up a run in the seventh inning of Game 1. Ottavino had made seven scoreless appearances dating to May 6.

Houston: RH reliever David Carpenter was called up from Class AAA Oklahoma City, and RH reliever Enerio del Rosario was sent down. RHP Jordan Lyles was recalled from Oklahoma City to start the second game of the doubleheader as part of the new rule that allows teams to call up a 26th player for a twinbill. ... Monday marked the first time the Astros have played a doubleheader since 2006.

Los Angeles: LHP Ted Lilly (shoulder) was placed on the disabled list five days after his worst start of the season, in which he allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings at Arizona, and LHP Michael Antonini was recalled from Class AAA Albuquerque. Antonini was called up once earlier this season but did not pitch. ... CF Matt Kemp homered for the second consecutive game on a rehab assignment with Albuquerque. Kemp is expected to be activated by the Dodgers before tonight's game.

Miami: RH reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo (former Leo Nunez) was suspended for eight weeks by Major League Baseball for age and identity fraud. Oviedo,

who passed a physical Monday in Miami, was scheduled to start working out today at the Marlins' spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla. He will be eligible to work out in extended spring training during the suspension and is eligible to join the Marlins on July 23. ... Hanley Ramirez, playing third base for the first time in his career after six seasons at shortstop, made only his second error of the year. Philadelphia's Placido Polanco is the only NL third baseman who has committed fewer. ... C John Buck singled in his first at-bat, snapping an 0-for-26 skid. It was Buck's first hit since May 15.

Milwaukee: C Jonathan Lucroy was scratched from the lineup because of a sore right hand, the result of a suitcase falling on it in his hotel room the previous evening. The preliminary diagnosis was a bruise, but Lucroy was scheduled to undergo X-rays. ... 3B Aramis Ramirez was back in the lineup after missing two games because of a bruised left elbow. Ramirez was hit by a pitch Friday. ... 1B Travis Ishikawa (strained muscle in left side) was placed on the disabled list, and IF Brooks Conrad was recalled from Class AAA Nashville.

New York: SS Omar Quintanilla was recalled from Class AAA Buffalo to replace SS Justin Turner, who sprained his right ankle and had to be helped off the field when he stepped awkwardly into first base as he was tagged out during a rundown. Manager Terry Collins said Turner is expected to go on the disabled list and be out 2-3 weeks. When Turner was hurt, 3B David Wright had to play shortstop for the second time in his career. ... CF Andres Torres didn't start after his wife gave birth to the couple's second child early Monday morning, but he pinch-hit in the eighth inning and laced a leadoff double.

Philadelphia: RHP Roy Halladay is scheduled to see a doctor today regarding the right shoulder stiffness that chased him from Sunday's start. Halladay hasn't been on the disabled list since 2005. ... C Carlos Ruiz, originally slated to bat cleanup, was scratched because of right hamstring tightness. Assistant GM Scott Proefrock said the team is "just being cautious with it" and that it should be "a day-to-day kind of thing." ... RHP Vance Worley (elbow) played long toss and is expected to throw a bullpen session this week. He said he felt "good" and pain-free.

Pittsburgh: RH reliever Juan Cruz was placed on the restricted list and allowed to leave the team and tend to personal matters in his native Dominican Republic, and LH reliever Doug Slaten was called up from Class AAA Indianapolis. Cruz was expected to return next weekend. ... 3B Pedro Alvarez is 7 for his last 24 after a two-week slump in which the Pirates continued to bat him cleanup. He doubled twice Monday.

St. Louis: 3B David Freese sat out because of a mild sprain of his right wrist. Manager Mike Matheny said Freese could have played but said he wanted to "nip it in the bud" so Freese's hand would heal. ... Rookie 1B Matt Adams has five multi-hit games in his first nine games after a three-hit game Monday. "He's a legitimate hitter," Matheny said. "But these are legitimate pitchers that are going to keep paying attention to find where they can find holes. If he stays with what he can do and doesn't get suckered into going to where they're trying to get him to go, I think he's going to do well."

San Diego: OF Carlos Quentin (right knee surgery) was activated from the disabled list, where he has been since spring training, OF Blake Tekotte was sent down to Class AAA Tucson and IF-OF James Darnell was transferred from the 15-day to 60-day DL. ... CF Cameron Maybin (right wrist) was out of the lineup for the second consecutive day. ... RHP Neil Wagner was claimed on waivers from Oakland and assigned to Tucson.

San Francisco: Barry Bonds attended a Giants game in San Francisco for the first time this year and held an informal news conference in which he said he has taken up cycling, is down to 212-215 pounds despite two recent surgeries (hip, back) and hopes to rejoin the Giants organization to help instruct players. Of his ongoing court case, he said, "I live with it. I'm a convicted felon for obstruction of justice, and that's who I am. I live with it." ... 1B Brandon Belt is standing more upright in his batting stance and is getting better results. Monday, he hit a booming RBI triple in the first inning, He still doesn't have a home run, however, after hitting nine in 187 at-bats last year.

Washington: OF Corey Brown was called up from Class AAA Syracuse, IF Tyler Moore was sent down and IF Chad Tracy (right groin) was placed on the disabled list retroactive to Sunday. RF Jayson Werth was moved from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. ... RHP Chien-Ming Wang is taking over as the No. 5 starter in place of LHP Ross Detwiler, manager Davey Johnson confirmed. Wang just came off the disabled list after being there since the start of the season because of a strained left hamstring.
