The Subway Fresh Fit 500 race is scheduled for Mar. 4, 2012, at the Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. This NASCAR Sprint Cup race features 312 laps on a 1-mile oval track. A total of 44 drivers have qualified for the Mar. 4 race. In 2011, Jeff Gordon won the Subway Fresh Fit 500 and has qualified in the 30th position this year.

Mark Martin won the pole at the Subway Fresh Fit 500 on Mar. 3 with a top speed of 136.815 miles per hour. Matt Kenseth, who won the Daytona 500 race, qualified in 26th position for the Mar. 4 race. After NASCAR deducted 25 points from Jimmie Johnson and fined his crew chief, he enters the race at Phoenix with a large disadvantage. Johnson qualified fourth for the Subway Fresh Fit 500.
