1: The number of victories in what is now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series posted by Jim Hurtubise, who got that lone win in the 1966 Atlanta 500, not quite two years after being badly burned in a USAC Champ Car race in Milwaukee. Richard Petty dominated the early stages of the Atlanta race, but his engine failure after 185 laps paved the way for Hurtubise, the only driver to finish on the lead lap. Hurtubise was the third first-time winner at AMS, following Bobby Johns (1960) and Bob Burdick (1961). Atlanta didn't produce another first-time winner until 2000, when Jerry Nadeau won the only race of his Cup career. In March of the following year, Kevin Harvick claimed his first Cup victory in his third start in the series.
