There are many types of yoga these days. You can participate in many varieties such as hot, laughter and couples yoga. Still, believe it or not the newest trend is performing poses in the nude. Are you ready to take your practice to this level? Find out more about this growing trend to see if you are ready to undress before performing asanas.
History of naked yoga
Naked yoga was introduced to Western countries in the 1960s. However, it appears to have first appeared in the United States in 2007. People perform both regular yoga and Bikram (hot) yoga in the nude.
Still, it seems that long before this we can trace some yogis in history who were naked ascetics. One such yogi was Trailanga Swami, and it is said that he lived to be almost 300-years-old before leaving this earth. Not only did Trailanga Swami perform yoga in the nude, he never wore clothes.

There are many good reasons to practice yoga in the nude, including the following:
- It can build self-esteem.
- It helps you to approve of and be comfortable with your body.
- It lets one feel liberated, being able to let go of life's problems.
- It is new and exciting.
- You are not restricted by clothing.
- It may aid in enhancing intimacy while performing couples yoga at home.
