Free-agent WR Randy Moss is in San Francisco on Monday, and he will be worked out by a former Colts quarterback.

It's not Peyton Manning, however. The one throwing Moss passes is 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. That way he will be able to see first-hand how well Moss can run and what kind of ability Moss might have if the team opts to sign him.

"Former Colt Pro Bowl QB throwing for #49ers tomorrow. Just to clarify, Coach Harbaugh is turning into Capt Comeback to throw to Randy Moss," team owner Jed York tweeted on Sunday evening.

49ers starting QB Alex Smith is currently not under contract, and neither of the other signalcallers on the roster — Colin Kaepernick and Scott Tolzien — are allowed to work out at the team facility until the league year begins on Tuesday. The 49ers could choose to bring in a street free agent, as the Saints did with Brian Brohm when they worked out Moss last week, but instead decided to have Harbaugh throw instead.

Moss didn't play in the NFL last season, but has indicated in several online chats this offseason he is interested in making a comeback.
