WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Junior center Ian Chiles scored a team-high 16 points, helping Morgan State hold off Howard 53-51 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game Monday night at Burr Arena. Chiles made 7 of 9 shots from the field. He also had seven rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals and two assists. Chiles led three players who scored in double figures for Morgan State (8-13, 5-5 MEAC), which has won two in a row since ending a three-game losing streak. Junior swingman Justin Black had 13 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore guard Blake Bozeman scored 11 points. Senior forward Mike Phillips had a game-high 19 points, six rebounds and three assists for Howard (6-19, 3-8), which had won two in a row since ending a six-game losing streak. Senior guard Anton Dickerson scored 17 points, making 6 of 10 shots from the field and 5 of 7 from 3-point range. Morgan State shot just 41.7 percent from the field but held Howard to 36 percent shooting. The Bears improved to 2-0 to start a stretch of five consecutive road games. They will play their last four games at home.
