Moore wants 'fair shot' to retain Dolphins' QB job

National Football Post

Matt Moore just wants what he termed a "fair shot" to retain the starting quarterback position with the Miami Dolphins.

Moore made those comments on the Joe Rose Show on WQAM0-560 in Miami, quotes that were picked up by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

The Dolphins flirted with Peyton Manning, but were rejected, and then pursued Matt Flynn in the off-season, only to see him sign with Seattle. Instead, the Dolphins landed former Jaguar David Garard, who was out of the league last year, to compete with Moore.

"I was fully expecting a quarterback competiton. I still am," Moore said. "?I get it, I understand and in any case as a player you just want a fair shot to show your talent and prove to the coaches you can win or lead this team to win. That's all I was hoping for, and I think that's the situation we have here."

Of course, more competition could com in the form of a draft pick, as the Dolphins have been strongly linked to Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill, because new offensive coordinator Mike Sherman was Tannehill's coach with the Aggies. Brock Osweiler of Arizona State has also been on Miami's radar.
