Moor: Rapids "nothing but positive" despite slow start

The Colorado Rapids are anchored to the bottom of the MLS table, with only a point from three games. Starting goalkeeper Matt Pickens fractured his forearm and will miss 3-4 months. But only positivity resides in the Rapids camp, says Drew Moor.

“We are still extremely positive,” Moor told Goal.com. “We have played really well. It is funny, the two games that we lost we seemed to have the better run of play, better possession, created better chances. We lost those games obviously, but then we went to Salt Lake and absorbed some pressure, but there again we created better chances than they did. We got some confidence going forward.”

Head coach Oscar Pareja is in his second season in charge, rebuilding the side that won the MLS Cup in 2010, thus far without tangible benefits in the standings. Moor indicates patience is in steady supply.

“There is nothing but positive in camp right now,” the defender said. “We are disappointed we don’t have more points, obviously, but it has been good so far. Everybody is buying into the system that we are in right now. It is much different right now than it was at any time last year, which is a good sign. The overall feeling is very positive, which is good.”

Rookie Deshorn Brown, who scored his first goal last week against rival Real Salt Lake in last week's 1-1 draw, credits the coach for keeping the team encouraged.

“Oscar is a great coach,” the Jamaican said. “He is always talking with us and trying to motivate us, telling us to believe in ourselves -- just fight to the end, which we always do. Each one of the players here has to believe in each other and believe in ourselves to do the job on the field. I am really happy to be here with him, and to learn from a legend like him playing in the game as well. It’s a great feeling.”

Moor also recognized the coach as a source of motivation for the squad, and is confident in the direction the club is headed.

“We don’t need to make a bunch of changes,” the Texas native said. “We only have one point in three games, but we are playing well, creating chances, defensively we are extremely solid. I just feel more solid with this group of guys than I have in several years here with the club, defensively, which is good. We are going forward.  We will start scoring some goals, and we will be just fine.”
