Montreal Impact land Argentine teenager Maximiliano Rodriguez on loan

The Montreal Impact announced Monday the signing of 19-year-old Maximiliano Rodriguez on loan through the remainder of the 2013 season.

Rodriguez joins the Impact from Argentinos Juniors, with whom he made eight appearances since his debut in 2010. Prior to playing professionally in his native country, the young midfielder was part of Atletico Madrid's academy.

"He is a young player that has a lot of potential," Impact sporting director Nick De Santis told the club's website. "We have been following him for over six months and I also had the chance to see him play in Argentina. He is a technically gifted player with a lot of raw talent. We feel that with some time on the field training with our experienced players and coaches, his talent can be refined. He is a young developmental project with a big upside."

Rodriguez joins fellow Argentine Andres Romero in the Impact squad.
