The Montreal Impact left it late, but managed to snap its three-match losing streak thanks to an 89th minute Patrice Bernier penalty kick in a 2-1 home win against the Columbus Crew.
Milovan Milosevic opened the scoring in the 64th minute, when his header off a corner kick gave the Crew a lead which it would eventually lose.
Montreal struck back in the 78th minute when Zarek Valentin scored his first MLS goal on an overlapping run followed by a slotted finish past Andy Gruenebaum.
Just when it appeared the points would be shared, Chris Birchall bundled over Justin Mapp in the box, forcing referee Matthew Foerster to point to the spot. Bernier made no mistake, and the Impact could celebrate a victory at Stade Saputo.
