MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw Sunday against the Western conference cellar dweller, Chivas USA.
The first half was goalless as Chivas withstood Montreal's pressure and defended resolutely in its own half.
The game came alive 10 minutes into the second half as Eric Avila capitalized on a Hassoun Camara giveaway to give Chivas the lead.
With Sanna Nyassi being taken down in the box in the 81st minute, Patrice Bernier equalized for the Impact from the penalty spot.
The Impact pushed for the winner in the dying minutes of the game but Chivas held on for the draw.
