The Montreal Impact and Chicago Fire played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in front of 19,313 fans at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
New signing Jack McInerney made an immediate impact with the breakthrough goal of the game in 43rd minute, and Quincy Amarikwa leveled the score in the 55th.
The first half was mostly subdued and uneventful until McInerney opened his goal scoring account with the home side. With a neat flick pass behind the Chicago central defense, Marco Di Vaio sent McInerney on a breakaway and the Tennessee native controlled the ball and slotted it past goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
Ten minutes into the second half, Chicago found the equalizer from a corner kick. After the ball being ping-ponged around the Impact box, it kindly fell to Fire forward Quincy Amarikwa and the 26-year-old smashed it into the net from close range.
Despite pushing for a winner, neither side was able to make anything of their opportunities.
The game finished 1-1 with both teams still seeking their first win of the season.
