The majority of the match saw the defenses stand firm in front of Troy Perkins and Jimmy Neilsen, who combined for seven saves on the night.
But deep into stoppage time Smith managed to find the answer and grab a winner for his side.
Marco Di Vaio made a clever turn at the top of the box and split two defenders with a pass that set Smith free on goal, where he finally found a way to beat Neilsen and grab the points for his team.
