Montana's son to participate in 49ers' pro day

Nate Montana, son of Hall of Fame quarterback and former 49ers' star Joe Montana, is scheduled to be among the draft-eligible players who will work out for 49ers coaches and scouts on Wednesday, CSNBayArea.com reported Tuesday.

The workout is part of a local pro day, and Montana is eligible to participate because he attended De La Salle High in Concord, which is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Nate Montana was a third-string quarterback as a De La Salle senior, and was a backup at three different schools in his first three years of college eligibility: Pasadena City College, Notre Dame and the University of Montana. He then enrolled at Virginia Wesleyan, a Division II school.

He played nine games at Virginia Wesleyan and attempted 50 or more passes in seven of those nine games. He completed 51.6 percent of his passes, and threw 19 touchdown passes with seven interceptions.
