An MRI on Yadier Molina's right know showed no structural damager and the St. Louis Cardinals catcher hopes to return to the lineup by Tuesday.
Tests after Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins showed inflammation in the knee. Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny raised concerns during his postgame meeting with the media when he said Molina was headed to a hospital for an exam.
"Everything came back negative and that's a relief," Molina said Sunday. "A couple days and I'll be ready to go."
Molina, who said the knee has bothered him for about a month, was the leading vote-getter for the July 16 All-Star Game in results announced Saturday.
Matheny called Molina's status day to day. The Cardinals have a scheduled off day on Monday and open a series against the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
Molina's .346 batting average leads the National League and he is tied for the NL lead in doubles with 26. He has six home runs and 45 RBIs in 81 games.
Backup Tony Cruz started in Molina's play on Sunday against the Marlins.
