Special Edition! Read all about it! Yes, I know it’s a little early for all this mock draft stuff getting back underway, but this edition of Mock Draft Monday will be a bit different. At this point in the season, most of us know what the weakest position on the Buffalo Bills is. That position is the wide receivers.

With Sammy Watkins on injured reserve and Robert Woods missing the last game at Miami, the Bills terrible situation at wide receiver was revealed. Marquise Goodwin looks to be made of glass at times. The other receivers just can’t seem to contribute in big ways on a consistent basis.

If the running game sputters — like it did against the Dolphins — the Bills have no answer in their passing attack. Breaking down three different selection areas for the team, here are three wide receivers the Buffalo Bills may consider drafting this April.

Top Ten Pick — Mike Williams — Clemson

This may be seen as a reach because of the real lack of top tier talent in this receiver draft class, but I’d rather pick him here to help solidify the Buffalo Bills receiver position. Playing with future NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson, Williams has been the top receiver in this class since proving that he had fully recovered from a fracture in neck.

That injury though could be a concern for some teams including the Bills. After all, Williams had a fracture in his neck. No matter how well he plays, the 6’3 receiver will never be able to out play some scouts concern about his injury. If the Bills are okay with the neck issue, Williams should top their big board this April.

Mid-Round Pick — JuJu Smith-Schuster — USC

A player some see as competition for Williams as the top receiver in this draft class, I just don’t see the tape needed to take him before Williams. While his touchdown stat is better — five to Williams’ two — Smith-Schuster had issues against Alabama. With two future NFL corners playing for the Crimson Tide, Smith-Schuster was held to just a single catch in their game this season.

Given that he will be a work in progress player, Smith-Schuster could be worth a Mid-Round pick but not a top ten one. However, with the Buffalo Bills problems at wide receiver, I wouldn’t be shocked by the Bills doing whatever they have to, to draft a receiver in the first round.

Sub-23 Pick — Courtland Sutton — SMU

Playing for a non-power conference team in SMU, Courtland Sutton is a raw player to say the least. Without a real test, Sutton’s game film will all we will get to judge the 6’3 receiver. However, it is that film and his stats that tell the tale of an extremely talented and explosive wide receiver.

Averaging 22.4-yards per catch this season, Sutton also has four touchdowns to his name for the Mustangs. Without much to judge him by though, Sutton may be a first round pick, but a late one at that. If the Bills are picking past number 20, Sutton should be an option for the Buffalo Bills front office.
