Michele Gutierrez, or "Diablita" as she's known by her legions of rabid fans, is a mixed martial arts fighter who made a name for herself by becoming the first female to compete as part of Wanderlei Silva's Fight Team.
She's a veteran of close to a dozen pro cage fights, including tilts against high-level competitors in the Invicta and XFO promotions, among others.
Some MMA fans know the 31-year-old striker best from her appearance in the XBox 360 game, Supremacy MMA, while others know her for being just the second combatant to stretch flyweight standout Sarah "KO Kid" Maloy to the distance.
Gutierrez holds victories over top-quality opponents like Cassie Rodish and Amy Stacey, and her classic tilt against Amanda LaVoy - which has come to be known as "the bloodiest fight in women's MMA history - tallied over 50,000 page views on YouTube.
Difficulty Of Dating While Training Full-Time In MMA
She is also a dream from a marketing perspective, as she has model-esque good looks that would make Ronda Rousey jealous, and an arsenal of front kicks similar to what Anderson Silva throws at his opponents. But for all the success she's had inside the cage, Gutierrez hasn't had much good fortune when it comes to the love department.
"I have bad luck with men," Gutierrez told me in an online interview. "It seems they bounce at the first sign of trouble."
As someone who commits so much time and energy to training in mixed martial arts, Gutierrez admitted it's a challenge to find that perfect balance between having a love life and competing in the sport she loves.
"Guys like girls with free time, and I have none," she added. "I'll never drop my dreams for a relationship."
Hundreds of fight fans from across the world have taken to Twitter to ask Gutierrez (@mgutierrezlv) on dates, but she's skeptical that she'll find her soul mate that way.
She noted "I'm not single by choice, but if someone asks me out online, how can that work? In real life, on a day to day basis, I don't get asked out on dates. Guys always say I'm a great girl, but then they don't ask me out. It's lame."
Rematch vs Maloy?
Gutierrez's search for the perfect man will have to be put on hold as she continues to train for her next fight, which is likely to take place inside an Invicta cage. There was some speculation from the MMA community that she would square off against Sarah Maloy for the next Invicta event, but that rematch appears to be shelved for the time being.
"I may drop down to 115 pounds," she said. "125 is too big."
Dropping to the 115-pound ranks may be a nice move for Gutierrez, as potential matchups against the likes of Carla Esparza or Sarah Schneider, would definitely be crowd-pleasing barn-burners.
With a future so bright, who needs a boyfriend anyways?
