MLS Preview: New York Red Bulls - Philadelphia Union

Goal.com

At six games without a win, the uneasiness surrounding the Supporters' Shield-winning New York Red Bulls continues to grow as they prepare to welcome the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday.

Sitting at 0-2-4 and coming off a 1-0 loss at rival D.C. United on Saturday, the Red Bulls will open a two-game home stand against a 1-1-4 Union side that drew 2-2 with unbeaten Real Salt Lake last time out.

For the Red Bulls, the loss to United came down to poor finishing as New York dominated long stretches of play but failed to convert. The potential return of Tim Cahill from a hamstring injury would be a big boost to the Red Bulls, who saw the Thierry Henry-Peguy Luyindula partnership stall at times against United as both players looked to collect the ball from deep positions.

The Union's attack, meanwhile, should continue to flow through increasingly influential playmaker Vincent Nogueira, with new striker Andrew Wenger looking to build off his debut after scoring against RSL.

In addition to Cahill, center back Armando is questionable with a hamstring strain for New York, while midfielder Bobby Convey (hamstring) and right back Richard Eckersley (ankle) are out. Union left back Fabinho (hamstring) and winger Danny Cruz (heel) are questionable.
