  • New York won the only meeting with the Galaxy last season, winning 1-0 in LA on May 5.

  • This match caps a three-game road trip for the Galaxy, which started with a 3-1 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Midweek, LA hit up the Philadelphia Union for four, winning 4-1 in Pennsylvania.

  • In a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution last week, Lloyd Sam scored his first MLS goal. The draw ended New York's four-game winning streak.

  • Landon Donovan, the all-time leading scorer for the U.S. national team, was left off Jürgen Klinsmann's latest roster.

  • The Red Bulls top the Eastern Conference with 21 points. The Galaxy are four points back but with three games in hand.
