MLS Preview: Seattle Sounders FC - Montreal Impact

Seattle Sounders FC (4-4-2): Gspurning; Johansson, Traore, Hurtado, Gonzalez; Martinez, Evans, Rose, Zakuani; Johnson, Rosales.

Montreal Impact (4-4-2): Perkins; Camara, Nesta, Ferrari, Brovsky; Pisanu, Arnaud, Bernier, Felipe, Mapp; Di Vaio.

  • This match kicks off the 2013 season for each of these teams. Seattle has made the playoffs every year since expansion; Montreal has yet to qualify, albeit in only one try.

  • The Sounders essentially replaced Jeff Parke (Philadelphia Union) with Djimi Traore (formerly of Liverpool). Fredy Montero's departure to Colombian side Millonarios should be mitigated by the impending arrival of Obafemi Martins (Levante). Additionally, the Rave Green added Designated Player Shalrie Joseph.

  • The Impact added attackers Andrea Pisanu and Andrés Romero on loan ahead of the season. Also, Montreal traded in coach Jesse Marsch for Marco Schällibaum.

  • Lamar Neagle, who joined MLS with Seattle, is back on the Sounders following a January trade from Montreal, where he spent 2012.

  • Osvaldo Alonso and Marc Burch are suspended for this match.
