MLS Preview: San Jose - Real Salt Lake
San Jose opens its MLS season when it hosts Real Salt Lake on Saturday in a MLS Western Conference matchup.

The Quakes are coming off a midweek CONCACAF Champions League draw in Toluca when, in classic style, it found a stoppage-time equalizer to make the final 1-1. The goal was scored by Alan Gordon, a MLS veteran, but San Jose coach Mark Watson is hoping European additions Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi, Andreas Gorlitza and Yannick Djalo can help his side rediscover the form that saw it lift the Supporters' Shield in 2012.

Real Salt Lake opened its season last weekend with a win against the LA Galaxy. Goalkeeper Nick Rimando was the Man of the Match, making seven saves including one on a late Robbie Keane that preserved a 1-0 victory. Joao Plata scored for the visitors who are hoping to get another three points on the road against a Western Conference rival. That won't be easy, as the midweek draw extended San Jose's unbeaten home streak to 20 matches.

Clarence Goodson should return to the Earthquakes team after being suspended for the CCL quarterfinal. New signing Djalo is still getting acclimated with the team and likely won't be handed a debut. For Real Salt Lake, Chris Schuler is nearing a return from a foot injury that kept him out of the opener. Forwards Robbie Findley and Devon Sandoval are long-term absentees and midfielder Sebastian Velasquez, who also missed the opener, is doubtful for Saturday's clash.

The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be available nationally on MLS Live.
