MLS Preview: San Jose Earthquakes - New England Revolution

The New England Revolution travel to the San Jose Earthquakes looking for their first points and indeed, goals, of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Through three matches, Jay Heaps' side has had a scoreless draw and two losses, and the former defender will hope it can build on last week's 0-0 against Vancouver. The offense will have to improve, as the likes of Teal Bunbury and Diego Fagundez have averaged just 2.66 shots on goal per game, the second-worst mark in MLS after D.C. United.

New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth may be breathing a sigh of relief after veteran netminder Matt Pickens was picked off of waivers last Friday only to be sold to NASL side Tampa Bay in midweek.

San Jose has actually found the net this year, but it's not much better off, with just one point to show from two games. The 'Quakes haven't had it easy though, drawing 3-3 with Real Salt Lake and losing 1-0 away to defending MLS Cup Champion Sporting Kansas City.

New England won last season's meeting between these sides 2-0, ending a five-game MLS winless run against San Jose that stretched back to 2010.
