MLS Preview: Portland Timbers - Chivas USA

After the Portland Timbers earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last year and bolstered their roster with the likes of Gaston Fernandez and Norberto Paparatto, few would have predicted the club would still be winless five games into 2014.

Yet the Timbers sit at 0-2-3 going into their match Saturday against Chivas USA (1-2-2) at Providence Park (10:30 p.m., MLS Live). Portland will be especially hungry for the full three points after surrendering a late two-goal lead and settling for a 4-4 draw against the rival Seattle Sounders last weekend.

Chivas, meanwhile, has not won since a season-opening triumph over Chicago, with a 3-0 defeat to the LA Galaxy the team's most recent setback.

While Portland is largely healthy aside from the long-term absence of Rodney Wallace (knee), Chivas could again be without center back Bobby Burling (shoulder/elbow) and midfielder Oswaldo Minda (hamstring).
