MLS Preview: Montreal Impact - Chicago Fire

Frank Klopas' new team hosts his old side in an early-season match featuring two Eastern Conference foes that are both looking to find their feet.

Klopas is the current coach of the winless Montreal Impact, who Saturday take on the Chicago Fire at Olympic Stadium. The Fire are also searching for their first victory of 2014, although they've amassed four draws under new boss Frank Yallop to give them the slight edge over Montreal so far.

At 0-3-2 the Impact sit dead last in the East, but perhaps more worryingly for Klopas is the nine goals his side has given up over its first five matches. That goals against tally has Montreal in a three-way tie at the bottom of the conference, along with New York and the Fire.

Chicago has found the net more often thus far, though Montreal was without star striker Marco Di Vaio for the first three matches of the season. He's back and has already scored, and he's expected to have a new strike partner in recently acquired Jack McInerney.

The Di Vaio-McInerney partnership will be one worth watching, as will the budding chemistry between 2013 MLS MVP Mike Magee and journeyman forward Quincy Amarikwa. Saturday's clash could see a few goals in it, which would give the Montreal faithful a rare reason to cheer in an early-season run that has failed to deliver so far.
