The Quakes travel to face FC Dallas in a matchup of two teams looking to get back in the Western Conference playoff spots.
The Earthquakes extended their home-unbeaten streak to 12 games with a 1-0 win against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday at Buck Shaw Stadium, while FCD went on the road Wednesday and claimed a 3-1 win at Chivas USA to bolster its playoff hopes and end an 11-game winless run.
After an 8-2-3 start, FCD has faded badly, posting a 1-5-6 record in its subsequent MLS matches. The win at Chivas USA was the team's first in league play since May. Despite the long drought, the team's hot start means the Hoops are still right in the thick of the playoff race, as they are currently level on points with Vancouver, which occupies the fifth and final playoff position.
These teams met once already this season, with FCD claiming a 1-0 home win back in May. Before Wednesday, it was the most recent MLS win for the Hoops.
