Despite their very similar records, the Columbus Crew and Vancouver Whitecaps are two teams seemingly headed in different directions.
After a perfect start through the first three matches of the 2014 MLS season, Columbus failed to win in its next six. Vancouver, meanwhile, is unbeaten in its last three league games, and will be looking to improve on a poor road record when it travels to Crew Stadium on Saturday.
The Whitecaps are a prolific attacking team at BC Place, but away from home they've struggled to find the net. That's good news for a Columbus side that has given up one more goal at Crew Stadium than its scored so far this year, but only if the home side can create chances of its own.
Since the beginning of April, the Crew have only scored three goals in six matches. The goal drought has led to a stretch where Columbus has dropped from first place to fifth in the Eastern Conference, so Gregg Berhalter's side will be looking to re-assert its home field advantage against a Vancouver side that has historically looked average away from home.
