Clint Dempsey may not have opened his Seattle Sounders scoring account yet, but his new club is churning along just fine going into its trip to take on the Columbus Crew on Saturday. Follow GOAL.COM on Twitter
With four wins in their past five matches, including a 1-0 Cascadia Cup triumph over the Portland Timbers last weekend, the Sounders (11-8-4) have played their way into playoff positioning. The Crew (8-12-5), on the other hand, are just 3-7-0 in their past 10 as they continue to fade from the Eastern Conference postseason hunt.
Columbus will be missing playmaker Federico Higuain for the first match of a two-game suspension, putting even more of the offensive load on speedy midfielder-forward Dominic Oduro (nine goals). The Sounders, meanwhile, seem poised to again be without striker Obafemi Martins (ankle).
Although Seattle finds itself tied with FC Dallas for the final playoff spot in the West (with three games in hand), Columbus is seven points out in the East.
