The Miami Marlins had a chance to win this game, but this time, it was the Rockies who put up the comeback, walk-off victory on the Fish. Corey Dickerson doubled home the winning run in the 13th inning.

The Miami Marlins are usually on the other side of these sorts of games.

The Fish got behind early against the Colorado Rockies despite a decent performance from Tom Koehler. The Rockies jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the third inning, when they picked up runs on a double-play ball followed by a two-out homer by Brandon Barnes. Miami had gotten their run in the top half of the inning when Giancarlo Stanton doubled home Christian Yelich.

Miami had plenty of opportunities after that to score runs and try and catch up in this game. In the fourth inning, the Fish drew three walks off of Jordan Lyles, including a bases loaded walk by Donovan Solano to drive in their second run. But Stanton struck out with the bases loaded directly after that, and it began a long night of stranding runners. Miami tied the game in the fifth inning on a Jarrod Saltalamacchia double, but they could not grab the lead afterward and eventually stranded 15 baserunners and going two-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

But the Marlins did eventually take the lead, and they did it with two outs in the eighth inning. Marcell Ozuna and Saltalamacchia got back-to-back singles with two outs against closer LaTroy Hawkins. Adeiny Hechavarria worked a two-strike count, stayed alive, and hit a top-spinning grounder right to the pitcher that bounced just off of Hawkins's glove and redirected away from a charging shortstop Josh Rutledge. Neither player could make a play and Ozuna scored from third, giving Miami the lead.

That would not last long. Steve Cishek entered the game to close it out, but a few pitches into the inning, he gave up a solo shot to Corey Dickerson, his 18th homer of the season, and the game was tied again. Cishek allowed two more baserunners after that, but just barely escaped the inning.

Miami had a chance in the 11th, as they got two runners on in Casey McGehee and Garrett Jones with no one out. But a low-lying line drive by Ozuna was flagged down by Rutledge, and the Rockies made a series of throws and tags to elicit a double play on the ball and neuter a promising inning.

The 13th inning was the deciding factor, and it came quickly against reliever Sam Dyson. Nolan Arenado doubled and Dickerson delivered right after, singling home the winning run for the Rockies.
