The New York Yankees placed left-hander CC Sabathia on the 15-day disabled list with right knee inflammation, the team announced Sunday.

Sabathia underwent an MRI on his knee Sunday morning. It is the same knee which was operated on for a torn meniscus following the 2010 season.

Manager Joe Girardi said the test showed no structural damage but did show some fluid in the knee.

The 33-year-old Sabathia has struggled through his first eight starts this season with a 3-4 record and 5.28 ERA over 46 innings.

The Yankees also recalled right-hander Matt Daley from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

---The Texas Rangers have to tinker with their starting rotation because of an injury to left-hander Martin Perez and the heavy workload of right-hander Yu Darvish in his last start.

The Rangers announced that Darvish's next start will be pushed back two days from his next scheduled Wednesday start in Houston.

Darvish, who threw 126 pitches in a near no-hitter Friday against the Boston Red Sox, will make his next start on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Rangers also announced that Perez will miss at least one start because of discomfort in his left elbow. Perez is scheduled to have an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

---The Toronto Blue Jays activated closer Casey Janssen from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Janssen, 32, has been on the disabled list since the beginning of the season with a left abdominal lower back strain. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound right-hander posted a 4-1 record with a 2.56 ERA and a career-high 34 saves last season, his second as the Blue Jays closer.

---Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday because of a strained left hamstring, reported Sunday.

Ramirez was injured during Saturday's game, and he is likely to be sidelined about three weeks.

Ramirez, 35, is hitting .252 with five home runs and 21 RBIs this season.

---San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt will undergo surgery Tuesday to have two pins inserted into his broken thumb, according to reports Sunday.

On Saturday, The Giants placed Belt on the 15-day disabled list.

---Washington Nationals first baseman Adam LaRoche was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a quad injury.

The stint is backdated to May 10.

---Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis, who was activated from the 15-day disabled list, was in the starting lineup against the Houston Astros.

The Orioles also placed catcher Matt Wieters on the 15-day DL with a right elbow strain.
