MLB Roundup: Harper unsure when rehab stint will start

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper slightly disagreed with manager Davey Johnson as to when he should start his minor league rehab assignment.

Johnson said Friday that he expects Harper to begin the assignment at Class A Potomac on Tuesday. Harper is on the disabled list with left knee bursitis However, Harper told reporters Saturday that he may need extra time.

"It just depends how I feel today and tomorrow," he said. "Monday is an off day, which is good. Tuesday, that's kind of early. I'm thinking Wednesday or Thursday, maybe."

---New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter took a break from rehabbing in Tampa, Fla., to join the team in the Bronx.

Jeter is looking to start running soon as he continues recovering from a broken left ankle. He took batting practice with the team Saturday and plans to be in the dugout through this weekend's series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

"I feel good," he told reporters. "Everything's moving in the right direction."

Jeter was given clearance last week to resume baseball activities. He has not played since the injury last October.

---New York Mets first baseman/outfielder Lucas Duda was scheduled to have an MRI taken after experiencing soreness during Friday's win over the host Philadelphia Phillies.

"We'll find out what the deal is, but he was pretty sore last night when the game was over," manager Terry Collins told reporters. "He was still sore again today -- real sore this morning. So he's going to be unavailable today. ... He came in last night and said his side was hurting him pretty bad."

---Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton is not expected to return from a sore right wrist until Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Hamilton last played Thursday. He had a cortisone shot and wore a brace over the wrist Friday. It flared up during pregame hitting drill more than a week ago. He is not expected to go on the disabled list.

Hamilton is batting .207 with 10 homers and 25 RBI in 275 at-bats.
