MLB roundup: Eight suspended from Dodgers-Diamondbacks brawl
Major League Baseball suspended eight players, managers and coaches, and fined four others for their roles in Tuesday's brawl between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The disciplines were announced Friday.
Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy was suspended 10 games for intentionally throwing at the head of Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke in the bottom of the seventh inning, after a warning had been issued to both teams earlier in the game.
D'backs infielder Eric Hinske was suspended five games for leaving the dugout and for aggressive actions during the incidents.
Dodgers pitcher J.P. Howell, infielder/outfielder Skip Schumaker and hitting coach Mark McGwire were suspended two games.
Dodgers pitcher Ronald Belisario and manager Don Mattingly each received a one-game suspension.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson was suspended one game "for the intentional actions of Kennedy after a warning had been issued."
The players, coaches and managers were also fined undisclosed amounts.
Greinke, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero and Diamondbacks outfielder Gerardo Parra were also fined.
The players can appeal the suspensions.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the two sides came to an agreement in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. The court previously had jurisdiction over the Dodgers' business dealings when previous owner Frank McCourt sold the team and declared bankruptcy.
Guggenheim Partners, the team's current ownership group, had been in a legal tussle with MLB over the television contract.
---Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told ESPN that the team has no plans to trade pitchers Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels or Jonathan Papelbon, despite struggling.
A day after Lee expressed frustration over how the past two seasons have gone for the Phillies, Amaro said he was frustrated, too, but said he had "no desire" to sell off his best pitchers to build for the future.
---Texas Rangers utility man Jeff Baker sprained his thumb while giving a high-five to a teammate on Thursday and was not in the starting lineup for Friday's game, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.
Baker is hitting .317.
---The Colorado Rockies called up Josh Rutledge from Triple-A after shortstop Troy Tulowitzki broke a rib, putting him out of action for at least a month.
----Center fielder Austin Jackson of the Detroit Tigers was activated from the disabled list after being sidelined with a hamstring injury. He's hitting .272 with two homers.
The Tigers optioned Avisail Garcia to Triple-A to make rom for Jackson on the roster.
