back on Friday, but they placed outfielder Shane Victorino
and third baseman Will Middlebrooks on the disabled list.
Victorino has a strained hamstring, and Middlebrooks has lower back spasms. Victorino is hitting .283 with two home runs in 34 games, and Middlebrooks is batting .201 with eight homers.
Ross is back after being sidelined with a concussion. He's hitting .209 with four home runs.

and right-haned pitcher Alfredo Aceves

from Class AAA Rochester to start Friday's game against the host Detroit Tigers
To make room for Deduno, the Twins transferred relief pitcher Tim Wood to the 60-day disabled list.
Deduno, 29, started the season on the DL with a groin strain he sustained in the World Baseball Classic championship game for the Dominican Republic.

announced that first baseman/outfielder Nick Swisher
was activated from the paternity list. Swisher was placed on the list Tuesday. His wife gave birth to a daughter Tuesday.
The Indians optioned infielder Cord Phelps to Class AAA Columbus.
---Cincinnati Reds reliever Sean Marshall was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained left shoulder. The move is retroactive to Tuesday.
The Reds also reinstated left-hander Manny Parra from his stint on the 15-day DL He had been out with a strained pectoral muscle.
---The Washington National learned second baseman Danny Espinosa
has a broken bone in his right wrist. Espinosa hurt his wrist on April 14 when he was hit by a pitch.
He was not put on the disabled list. The team hopes rest can ease the pain enough for him to play soon.
---Toronto Blue Jays placed reliever Darren Oliver
on the 15-day disabled list with a left shoulder strain.
That cleared a spot for Sean Nolin, who is scheduled to start Friday's game against Baltimore.
