Los Angeles Angels center fielder Peter Bourjos was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after suffering a non-displaced fracture in his right wrist during the fourth inning of Saturday's 7-2 win over the Houston Astros.
Bourjos, who was hit by a pitch from Houston's Jordan Lyles, is expected to be out two weeks in a season interrupted by injuries.
Bourjos had just returned after missing four games because of a bruised left thumb that he hurt a week ago against Pittsburgh.
The unfortunate injuries have short-circuited a productive season for the 26-year-old. Bourjos is hitting .326 in 129 at-bats and has played well defensively.
J.B Shuck will continue to fill in for Bourjos in the lineup and play left field. Mike Trout will move over to center from left. Shuck is hitting .389 with eight RBIs in his last 12 games.
---The Colorado Rockies signed veteran outfielder Xavier Nady to a minor league contract.
Nady, 34, opted out of a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals to accept the offer from the Rockies. Playing for the Royals' Triple-A Omaha team, Nady was hitting .310 with 11 home runs and 43 RBIs in 70 games this season.
--- Catcher Ramon Hernandez has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, Sportsnet reported.
The 37-year-old Hernandez will report this week to Triple-A Buffalo.
Hernandez was released by the Dodgers on June 22. He was hitting .208 in 55 plate appearances this season, his 15th in the major leagues.
Last season, Hernandez hit .217 for the Colorado Rockies.
---The Houston Astros placed outfielder Justin Maxwell on the seven-day concussion disabled list and recalled outfielder-infielder Jimmy Paredes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Maxwell fell hard while making a diving catch in right field last week in Minute Maid Park during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals and has experienced persistent headaches and post-concussion symptoms.
---Cubs outfielder Ryan Sweeney is expected to be out four to six weeks after he suffered a fractured rib in the Cubs' 5-3 win in 11 innings over the Mariners on Saturday night in Seattle, the team said.
The injury occurred when Sweeney ran into the outfield wall in Safeco Field while making a catch. After the cracked rib was discovered, the Cubs placed him on the 15-day disabled list Sunday.
Sweeney became the starting center fielder for the Cubs when David DeJesus went on the DL after also colliding with a wall.
---Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun has been on the disabled list for two weeks with a right hand injury, but he is is scheduled to begin swinging the bat again Tuesday, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported.
Braun had performed any baseball activities while giving the injury time to heal.
Braun was batting .304 with nine home runs before being placed on the disabled list June 9.
---The Baltimore Orrioles designated right-hander Jair Jurrjens for assignment to make room for second baseman Brian Roberts. Roberts had been put since April 5 with a right hamstring problem.
---The Orioles obtained outfielder Eric Thames from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for minor league infielder Ty Kelly, Fox Sports reported.
. Thames has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk.
Thames was designated for assignment by Seattle on May 22.
