MLB clinch and elimination scenarios: Sept. 19 watch list

We're in the midst of stretch drive baseball and that means the game is now riddled with clinching and elimination hypotheticals, not to mention individual milestones that may be within reach. With that in mind, let's take our daily look at which of those might happen next (Friday schedule/scoreboard).

  • The Dodgers will clinch a postseason berth with a win over the Cubs AND a Pirates win over the Brewers. Los Angeles will still clinch at least a tie of the second wild-card spot if only one of those things happen.

  • The Mets will be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss to the Braves OR a Pirates win over the Brewers.

  • The Rays will be eliminated from postseason contention with a loss to the White Sox OR an Athletics win over the Phillies.

  • Derek Jeter needs one more run to move into sole possession of tenth place on the all-time runs scored list. He is currently tied with Alex Rodriguez (1,919).

  • Clayton Kershaw (19-3) will try to become baseball's first 20-game winner this season on Friday afternoon against the Cubbies.

  • Orioles outfielder Nelson Cruz is sitting on 39 home runs for the season. David Ortiz, Victor Martinez and Jose Bautista all have 99 RBI. Albert Pujols has 98 RBI.

  • Francisco Rodriguez is one save away from tying Randy Myers for tenth place on the all-time saves list with 347.

Here's how the playoff picture looks as of Friday morning.

As a reminder, the AL East (Orioles), NL East (Nationals) and AL West (Angels) division titles have already been clinched.
