Adrian Peterson had a big day for the offense, but it was not enough to avoid a defeat for the Vikings against the Cowboys, 27-23, in Arlington.
Christian Ponder found pay dirt two times (1 pass, 1 rush) on 25 of 37 passing for 236 yards, one pick and one fumble. Tony Romo finished 34 for 51 with 337 yards passing, two touchdowns and one pick for the Cowboys.
Peterson was a standout player for the Vikings, rushing for 140 yards on 25 attempts while adding a touchdown and had three receptions for 37 yards. Kyle Rudolph snagged two passes for 35 yards with a score.
The Minnesota defense struggled to defend the passing attack, but was able to slow down the run, giving up 36 yards rushing and 337 passing. They sacked Romo three times.
Cowboys tight end Jason Witten had a big game, putting up 102 receiving yards and one touchdown.
The Vikings are at home to take on the Redskins (2-5) next week while the Cowboys travel to New Orleans to meet the Saints (6-1).
