For the Cleveland Indians, they are at a point where their recent play is beyond a slump. There are traditionally highs and lows throughout a baseball season but the fact they have lost games to what can be considered weaker opponents is nothing more than a slap in the face to fans of the team.
Teams lose a series now and then, some even more often than others. When it gets embarrassing is when a team is looking to avoid their fourth consecutive sweep against a team that is below them in the standings. The hardest aspect to grasp is if the Indians lose on August 8 they will have the same record as the Minnesota Twins. Now that hurts to just think about.
The Tribe's hope to end the bleeding rests in the arm of Justin Masterson. Otherwise fan outrage will turn into greater apathy, but at least with outrage you know fans still care.
The Cleveland Indians will take on the Minnesota Twins at Progressive Field located in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 12:05 p.m. EDT.
Justin Masterson (7-10, 4.78 ERA) will take the mound for the Indians facing off against the Twins' Brian Duensing (2-6, 4.39 ERA).
Cleveland enters the game with a 50-60 record and in third place in the American League Central. They are 27-27 when playing at home and have won none of their last 10 games.
Minnesota comes into the matchup with a 49-61 record and in fourth place in the American League Central. They are 26-29 when playing on the road and have won seven of their last 10 games.
The season series is currently stands at 7-3 in favor of the Twins.
