Update: Morse has been traded to the Mariners in a three-team deal involving the Athletics and Nationals. The Athletics will receive catcher John Jaso from the Mariners and the Nationals will acquire pitcher A.J. Cole from the Athletics and two players to be named later.
Recommendation: Trade discussions for Morse had been brewing since the Nationals re-signed Adam LaRoche, leaving Morse with no place to play everyday. With the move to the Seattle, where he began his big league career, Morse will give the team a much-needed everyday power bat in the corner outfield or first base, depending on where the team plans to deploy Kendrys Morales.
