Mike Fiers: Claims Final Rotation Spot

Update: Fiers has claimed the final spot in the Brewers rotation, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Recommendation: After Monday's signing of Kyle Lohse, Fiers was left to compete with Wily Peralta and Chris Narveson for the final two spots in the rotation. Because manager Ron Roenicke expressed a desire to ease his innings load in his recovery from shoulder surgery, Narveson was assigned to the bullpen, leaving the starting gigs to Fiers and Peralta. In spite of his excellent rookie campaign, Fiers remains a bit of a risk after posting a 6.99 ERA over his final ten starts, an indication hitters were becoming more familiar with his deceptive delivery. With a capable starter in Narveson lurking in the wings, Fiers is no lock to keep the starting job for the majority of the season.
