Middle Tennessee scored the first 10 points of the game and rolled from there to a 69-52 victory over Florida International in Sun Belt Conference basketball Saturday night. The Panthers (4-7, 1-3) went more than five minutes before getting their first basket of the game but trailed only 28-21 at the intermission. They got the deficit down to three points, 30-27, with 17:42 left in the game before going on another scoring drought. The Blue Raiders (10-3, 2-0) scored 10 unanswered points over the next three minutes to get the margin out to 13. The Panthers made one more comeback bid, getting to within seven points at 45-38 midway through the second half, but that was as close as the visitors could come. Middle Tennessee's Shawn Jones and Marcos Knight shared scoring honors for the game with 15 points each. The Raiders got 12 points off the bench from Raymond Cintron in winning their third in a row. Tymell Murphy led the Panthers with 13 points. Jerome Frink and Malik Smith also were in double figures with 10 each as the Panthers lost their second in a row.
