Shawn Jones scored on an inbounds play at the buzzer to give Middle Tennessee a comeback, 66-64 victory over Florida International on Thursday night in Sun Belt Conference basketball. With just 0.9 seconds to play, Jones, playing just a short distance from his hometown of Hialeah, Fla., took an inbounds lob from Bruce Massey and laid in a five-footer just before time expired. Officials ruled the basket good after a quick review. The Blue Raiders (19-4, 11-1) trailed throughout the evening, falling back by 20 points late in the first half before going to the locker room down 36-19 at the half. The Panthers (11-10, 6-6) had a 42-24 lead less than two minutes into the second half before the Raiders went on a 13-0 run to get the gap down to a manageable five points. Raymond Cintron, who was scoreless in the first half, hit four crucial 3-pointers in the second to lead the rally. Cintron finished with a team-high 14 points, while teammate Marcus Knight added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Raiders caught up for the first time at 59-59. The game was tied at 64-64 after FIU's Tymell Murphy's free throw to set it up for Jones' heroics. Murphy posted a game-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Marco Porcher Jimenez added 15 points for the Panthers, and Malik Smith scored 11.
