Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson Signs with the UFC

Former Invicta FC atomweight champion Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson (12-4) has signed with the UFC to compete as a strawweight. The news was first reported on Monday’s edition of UFC Tonight.

Waterson made her professional mixed martial arts debut in February 2007. She’s competed in several promotions, including Ring of Fire, King of the Cage, Strikeforce and Invicta FC.

The 29-year-old defeated The Ultimate Fighter 20’s Jessica Penne at Invicta FC 5 in April 2013 to win the Invicta FC 105-pound title. She defended the belt at Invicta FC 8, defeating Yasuko Tamada by TKO, before losing to Herica Tiburcio at Invicta FC 10 in December.

She’s expected to make her octagon debut at an as yet unnamed event this summer.
