This is the time of year when National Football League fans deal with a bit of what is real, but is not, and a lot of nonsense, yet could happen. A few of these are important to Seattle Seahawks followers. Here are a few for Saturday, along with some links to read more.

The first note: Richard Sherman is still a Seahawk. On the most recent Baseball Beer and BBQ podcast, The Incredible Murph and the Unreal Todd agreed that it would take a strong first and third round pick offer to pry Sherman from the family of Seattle. Mr. Fabulous, Ted Hicks, simply scoffed and said Sherman is a god and is going nowhere. Ted knows who signs the checks on that show.

The real news is the signing of two linebackers, a real need for the Hawks as they already lost backup middle backer Brock Coyle, and starting strongside backer Mike Morgan remains a free agent. Michael Wilhoite comes from the 49ers where he played inside linebacker in their 3-4. He recorded a high of 67 tackles in 2014, and started six games last year. Wilhoite signed another of the ever-popular one-year contracts for $1.1 million, $500,000 guaranteed.

Terence Garvin is the second linebacker signed this weekend. Garvin played for the Washington Redskins in 2016, mainly on special teams. With just 52 total tackles in his career, the Seahawks are certainly looking to groom Garvin, not throw him into the fire. Garvin

Wilhoite and Garvin join linebacker Arthur Brown, who was signed a week ago. Brown is another special teams… uh, specialist, who adds depth to the linebacking corps. Brown is also the brother of onetime Seahawks running back Bryce Brown. No word if Bryce left him his combination to the locker. Perhaps that news will come out with the next signing.
