Michael Bradley predicts Toronto improvement after opening win

U.S. men's national team midfielder Michael Bradley has predicted that his Toronto FC team will get even better following the Reds' 2-1 away win against the Seattle Sounders.

Bradley was a force in the midfield as Jermain Defoe punished the Sounders with a pair of first-half goals. But even though the Canadian club walked away from CenturyLink Field with three points, the former Roma man thinks his side -- which featured six starters who joined Toronto in the offseason -- is just getting started.

"There's no doubt in my mind that as the season goes on, we'll continue to improve," Bradley said after the game. "And our football will be good, and we'll play well, but tonight was different, tonight was about the spirit, the mentality and doing whatever it took to come away with three points.

"For everybody, for every person in this locker room, every coach, every person part of this club, it's an important day," said Bradley after the game. "It's only one game, and we're mindful of that, we know we still have a long way to go, a lot of work to be done. One game doesn't make a season.

"It's each step along the way and I think today is a good step for us."

Toronto hosts D.C. United in its next match, on March 22.
