Sophomore cornerback Thomas Finnie
, arrested Tuesday and charged with theft, was suspended indefinitely from the University of Miami football team, the Miami Herald reported.
A press release from the Coral Gables, Fla., police indicated Finnie was "involved in the theft of the laptop computer from a dorm room on campus," according to the Herald.
The newspaper reported that records show Finnie was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge in July 2012, and on a third-degree grand theft charge in November 2008.
In 12 games (six starts) for the Hurricanes this season, Finnie was credited with 22 tackles, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery.
The Hurricanes went 7-5 this season, but they are done for the year due to a self-imposed bowl ban related to an ongoing NCAA investigation into players receiving improper benefits.
