It’s election day. For some, you may have already voted. Others, that comes today. One thing we can all agree on though is the following. THE ADS ARE FINALLY DONE! With that now out of the way, let’s have a little fun with this election cycle, after all it’s what we all need following this tumultuous year.

Taking a look at some key players on the Miami Dolphins, we will try to find what political candidate exemplifies them the most. This is not in terms of their views of choices, but more in terms of their current situation facing both them and their doppelganger in today’s general election. Without further ado, here are just a few comparisons if for nothing more than a few laughs.

Jay Ajayi = Donald Trump

Just when you think they are down and out, they come roaring back. During the recent weeks where we have seen Jay Ajayi account for over 500-yards in three games, Donald Trump has also seen some massive improvement of his own. Whether or not it ends in victory for him, who knows at this stage.

For certain though, the rebound in form for Jay Ajayi has put him in a strong position. An underdog after losing his job in the preseason, we also don’t know what the rest of the campaign holds in store for him. A lot of uncertainty faces both Ajayi and Trump, making them an easy pairing for this comparison.

Ryan Tannehill = Hillary Clinton

Facing a strong challenge from the people as it regards to his status as the number one quarterback, Ryan Tannehill can surely relate to Hillary Clinton’s problems during the democratic primary. In the end, both came out on top and look poised to lead there team/party through to victory.

For Tannehill though, things are slightly more complicated. All Hillary has to do is win an election and lead the free world. Tannehill has to prove that he can be the Miami Dolphins franchise quarterback. Though similar in some ways, Tannehill could easily become the “Dewey defeats Truman” of the Dolphins quarterback depth chart.

Cameron Wake = Evan McMullin

Outside of Utah, many will not have heard of this independent candidate. However, targeting the beehive state, McMullin has managed to play the one state game pretty well. This mostly reminds me of Cameron Wake. He is a pass rusher to the capital P and R. Doing much else, Wake begins to struggle much like McMullin outside of Utah.

Both are good where it counts though and are game changers if the situation ultimately goes there way.

Jarvis Landry = The Third Party

With the rise of Jay Ajayi, the offensive line and Ryan Tannehill, Jarvis Landry has become an almost afterthought in recent weeks. Sound familiar. Earlier in the election cycle, third party candidates like Gary Johnson and Jill Stein were getting a lot of attention. In recent weeks though, they have been left almost in the dust.

Both Landry and these candidates could both still play a role in deciding there races this year. For Landry, he will still need to play an important role if the Dolphins want to make the playoffs in 2016. The third party candidates, well, they may not have a shot at the promised land but they sure could shake up race between the other two candidates.
